Evolution of a "friendship"

Alice and Liberty have never been good friends...in fact, Liberty is scared enough of Alice that one of my fun games is to pick up Alice and wave her at Liberty to watch Liberty freak out.  Usually if Alice is by the back door, Liberty will refuse to go out and if she is by the fireplace, well...Liberty is usually found in the other room. Enter several days of cold, coinciding with all of us home on Winter Break and a nice cozy fire...and watch what happens...

Hmmm....They must be really cold to put up with each other....but wait...

 Has Liberty overcome her fear enough to stretch out a paw?!!

Oh, my goodness!  They are not only sharing the fireplace, but touching!  Crazy...But wait...

 Awww...look...it's like Liberty is hugging her...and wait for it...

Alice is ok with it....I missed the three licks Alice gave Liberty's ear because I was waiting for all you-know-what to break loose when Liberty discovered she was being touched by the cat...Stay tuned...if it stays cold, I might have adorable pictures of them actually cuddling...or a video of a 9 lb cat beating up a 110 lb dog...either way, it should be interesting!

Well, at least she looks pretty...

Maybe we should call the blog, "The Adventures of Alice the Cat"

I don't think it is just Alice though, my friend, Beth, has a cat that looks and acts just like Alice, despite the cats living thousands of miles apart.  Maybe it is the type of cat...weird tortoise shell.

The Girl and I cleaned off seven years of debris from the bookshelf in the homework corner.  We decided that the likelihood of anyone "doing" a second grade phonics workbook was pretty low-many other workbooks and old textbooks were moved/removed/disposed of...leaving us with a foot wide opening on the shelf.  Whoo-Hoo--room for more books!  But, um, no...really room for a cat!  In the third picture it looks like she is reading the Spanish book.

 In other "news"...there was a beautiful sunset the other night--made the yard look all glow-y and pretty!

 And her she is, outside for the first time in a year, wearing her pretty harness, because if she goes out in just a collar she pulls it right off.  Of course, the other night she actually got out through the ripped screen (Thanks, Liberty) and sat outside crying, unable to figure out how to get back in through the same ripped screen.

 I think it is very funny that she will walk around with her harness on outside, but when she comes in she is incapable of movement.

 And angry.

Alice has always liked to sit strange places... this week we think she wants us to look at her, since her new haunt is right next to the tv.  We think maybe the CD player was warm, so she thought she might be able to curl up there, unnoticed....

 "No, no...I'm a statue, just like the other gargoyle cat"

 "Fine...I'll go"

"But I'm going to block some tv viewing as I go!"









Ha!  I was just reading the May issue of "Reader's Digest" and in the "Life in These United States" section it has this quote (attributed to "reddit.com")...
"If someone from the 1950's suddenly appeared, what would be the most difficult thing to explain about life today?  One answer: 'I possess a device in my pocket that is capable of accessing teh entirely of information known to man.  I use it to look at pictures of cats and get into arguments with strangers.'"  Enjoy looking at pictures of (my) cat(s)....

Our pets are weird

A couple of weekends ago we had a little snow, which just supported our pets' collective weirdness.  Here is Liberty on one of her approximately five million trips out and in and out and in...

 Alice spent the day plotting everyone's deaths--see that look in her face?

 Then she took up stalking Indy and plotting how to get out of the house.

 I mean, look at these photos...does she scare all of you as much as she scares me?

 Today my favorite pet is this bunny...it just sits there and looks cute.

 Scary, just scary.

 Notice that Indy moved up to the couch, in a vain attempt to protect herself from that cat.
